This was a great semd off for Kisame. I didn't care much for him before but he's top 5 akatsuki members now for me. I'm glad Guy acknowledged him at the end, respecting his loyalty

Ngl, Kisame was very loyal to the Akatsuki until the end. He was one of the more understandable character from the Akatsuki.

I didn't expect him to be so loyal to Tobi/ Madara, going so far as to get himself eaten to not leak info. Though it is ironic infinite tsukuyomi would make everyone live an eternal lie which is what Kisame was tired of seeing. His interactions with Itachi were interesting too, being the akatsuki pair that got along the best.

He understood Itachi, probably the only one in the whole world who understood Itachi. Cuz he's been through same
That's probably why he was always okay with Itachi work on personal goals ( the visit to konoha after the thirds death, fight with sasuke)

Out of all the Akatsuki pairs, Itachi and Kisame were the best in my opinion. Itachi who was deeply loyal to Konoha and Kisame who was loyal to Akatsuki until the very end. Kisame thought that they were good pairs because they killed their own comrades so he thinks he understands Itachi but what really mesh them together was their own loyalty to their own ideology.

Kisame admired Itachi because he opposed his way of life even though Itachi himself ended his own village but didn't thought of the feeling of killing their own as exhilarating, he probably thought of Itachi as his salvation and even assisted Itachi in his personal endeavors.

That shark got away and left me frustrated here.

I always knew he was one of the strongest members of the Akatsuki.. and him being paired with Itachi is the best. Ever since his first appearance on Naruto (with Itachi) after the third hokage died, I knew they will be a great team.. I never expected he was that loyal to the Akatsuki tho.. applause to him.. he got my respect.

Kisame deserves all the respect he's getting and plus if you look at it from another angle, Kisame and Itachi getting into a fight would be pretty bad, like Kisame can counter his genjustsu because of his bijuu like chakra. He can keep spamming jutsus while Itachi is coughing up blood and if he goes Susano'o that's just like a giant chakra shell, Kisame would just eat through it(I think) and fire style against bijuu powered water style,not good at all

But they understood each other and worked very well, both deserve respect big time

When Itachi died Kisame did not give out any reaction and it made me wonder whether he even cared or respected Itachi. I got my answer after watching this episode.

Itachi and Kisame's loyalty toward their own goals is commendable. Even in the face of death, he did not betray Akatsuki. And the fact that he chose death over leaking intel even though he was portrayed as a traitor who killed his own comrades really adds depth to Itachi's word "We do not know what kind of people we truly are until the moment before our deaths."
Also, the part where Guy vowed to never forget about Kisame made his sacrifice even more gracious.
